Messy Business

There's a big difference between micromechanics and watch service: micromechanics is messy!

We actually have two different lab coats to wear, one dirty and one "clean," so particles from our micromechanics projects don't contaminate our watches.

That said, you'd never know how much debris can accumulate if you saw the micromechanics workshop before class begins in the morning. Our instructors tell us that "no one cleans like a watchmaker," and they mean it. No matter what, every speck of dust, every flake of metal and every spot of grease must be swept and swabbed at the end of the day.

Besides, this isn't really that messy. Wait until you see what polishing does to your hands...
