Welcome to Hairspring Week!
The date for SAWTA 2 has been announced—it's about a month away—so we'll be buckling down on watchmaking for the next few weeks to prepare for the test.
The biggest challenge will be building an oscillator and hairspring.
This week, I'll be showcasing the many different tools that go into this task, as well as an overview of the entire process.
I've already covered several parts of this process, but they're worth revisiting. The oscillator is the true heart of a watch, and it's a fabulously simple, yet fiddly mechanism.
Stay tuned!
