Clock Progress: It Ticks
My clock is officially alive!
With all of the pivots drilled and the click filed and installed, I was able to wind up the clock and... See whether or not it would explode.
Exciting!
The week wheel repivot is the weakest link in the system, and most likely to let go. Luckily, nothing broke, and the clock ran down without issue.
The clock is beating much more quickly than it should, since the pendulum isn't installed yet. This clock uses a Graham deadbeat escapement, which beats exactly once per second. The escapement relies on a precise pendulum to operate properly, and without one it beats at whatever rate it can manage.
I'll be making the hands, dial and pendulum soon. This clock should be keeping proper time... In no time.
